Good morning, Triangle! For anyone who’s driven past Falls Lake recently, you know its changing face has been a major topic of conversation, and we have an important update.

Recent rainfall across the Triangle has brought a much-needed increase to the water level at Falls Lake; however, despite these welcome showers, the lake’s overall level remains significantly lower than what we typically see for this time of year. This slow rise comes as our region continues to grapple with the lingering effects of an extreme drought, a situation that has deeply impacted our local waterways for months.

The persistent drought conditions have left Falls Lake, a crucial water source and recreational hub for our community, far from its usual capacity, reflecting a significant long-term deficit. While every inch counts, it will take much more than a few days of rain to fully recover, prompting continued vigilance and conservation efforts from residents as we head further into the season.

We want to hear from you: Have you noticed the changes at Falls Lake? What are your thoughts on the current water situation?
