North Carolina Representative Donald Davis, along with three other Democrats, joined with a majority of Republicans in a 213-210 vote to pass an appropriations bill that cuts $141 million from the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC).

The four Democrats who voted with Republicans to approve the measure were Reps. Vicente Gonzalez (Texas), Adam Gray (Calif.), Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (Washington), and Don Davis (NC). There were 5 Republicans who opposed the bill.

The Center on Budget Policy Priorities (CBPP) has estimated that the cut would strip already modest fruit and vegetable benefits from “nearly 5.4 million toddlers, preschoolers, and pregnant and postpartum WIC participants.”

Don Davis claims on his own site that his “mission is to improve the lives of all families, foster hope, and ensure that eastern North Carolinians never feel forgotten.” Mission failed Mr. Davis.
