Section 219 of the NDAA (formerly section 224) essentially makes our military and Israel's functionally indistinguishable from each other. Israel would get full access to every one of our military networks, and instead of needing congress to authorize spending packages for Israel, Israel would just submit expense reports to the Pentagon for whatever they want. This is unacceptable. Deb, however, seems a little tepid on it:
"Mr. TopUniversity
Thank you for contacting me to express your concern regarding Section 224 of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). I appreciate hearing from you and welcome the opportunity to respond.
Each year, Congress passes the NDAA, authorizing funding for the U.S. military. This critical bill ensures that our nation’s armed forces have the training and supplies that are necessary for carrying out their missions. It is imperative that Congress provides our military with adequate resources to protect our interests at home and abroad while also conducting sufficient oversight of the Department of Defense to guarantee our taxpayer dollars are spent responsibly.
Section 224 of the Fiscal Year 2027 NDAA would establish a DOD Executive Agent responsible for managing coordination between the U.S. and Israeli militaries. While I support enhancing cooperation with our allies, this technology synchronization has raised serious concerns and could undermine the competitiveness of our defense industry and jeopardize national security. Please know I will keep your views in mind as I continue to fight for the interests of my constituents."
