I have been trying to track down the location of this photo. My grandparents took this on their honeymoon of a trip to the Smokies. I believe it to be a bend on the French Broad River after a little research, but unsure of where. I have used Google Maps to run up and down the river and the best place I can find as a match is a river bend around the community of Stackhouse/Hurricane, NC. However, it seems off a bit and I don’t see where two presumably non-hikers (there is a trail that runs by a similar vantage point) would have been able to get this shot at this elevation. The mountains don’t exactly line up and neither does that low lying river plain to the right. Anyone recognize it? submitted by /u/SeaSpur |
