Get ready, North Carolina! After a year of anticipation, the Bull City is buzzing with the triumphant return of **Psychic Hotline’s Good Moon** festival, promising an unforgettable weekend that celebrates the heart and soul of NC’s vibrant music scene.
From **October 8-10**, downtown Durham will transform into a music lover’s paradise, anchored by two electrifying performances from Durham’s own Grammy-nominated darlings, **Sylvan Esso**—the visionary founders of Psychic Hotline, alongside manager Martin Anderson—at the magnificent Durham Performing Arts Center (DPAC). But the stars don’t stop there: country music sensation **Tyler Childers** will also grace the DPAC stage, joined by a dazzling array of special guests each night, including the legendary neo-soul and jazz queen Meshell Ndegeocello, the powerful poet aja monet, and the captivating Mexican singer-songwriter Silvana Estrada. This isn’t just a concert; it’s a curated experience of global talent right here in the Triangle.
Forget the sprawling ballparks of years past! This year, Good Moon embraces an intimate, immersive vibe, spreading across iconic downtown Durham venues. Discover new favorites at the legendary **The Pinhook**, soak in the atmosphere at **Bay 7** in the historic American Tobacco Campus, and experience the buzz at the newly opened **BOOM Club**. This unique ‘small clubs’ format marks an exciting evolution from the event’s previous freewheeling ballpark iterations in 2022 at the Historic Durham Athletic Park (DAP), where it was billed as “the greatest show on dirt,” and in 2024, at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park, offering a chance to get up close and personal with an eclectic lineup, promising discoveries around every corner of the Bull City.
Beyond the headliners, the festival boasts a meticulously curated lineup spanning genres and continents. Prepare to be enchanted by the modern Korean folk pop of **Leenalchi**, groove to the global beats of **Tash LC**, sway with **Annie & the Caldwells**, dive into the experimental sounds of **Circuit des Yeux**, feel the indie warmth of **Babe Haven**, and get lost in the sonic landscapes of **Hex Files**, plus many more incredible artists waiting to be discovered.
And for our proud North Carolina residents, mark your calendars for a truly special, **FREE** daytime event on **Saturday, October 10th**! The Amphitheater at American Tobacco Campus will host homegrown heroes **MJ Lenderman** and **Woke County Speedway**, showcasing the rich talent right in our backyard. Plus, enjoy a unique screening of acclaimed guitarist William Tyler’s evocative music film, Time Indefinite. It’s a perfect opportunity to celebrate NC’s artistic spirit, completely free of charge!
At the heart of Good Moon lies the vision of Sylvan Esso’s Amelia Meath and Nick Sanborn. More than just world-renowned musicians, this dynamic duo has been instrumental in nurturing Durham’s vibrant music scene since the band’s 2013 debut. Their commitment shines through Psychic Hotline, their Durham-based label, which not only brings international touring artists like Reyna Tropical and Ichiko Aoba to our stages but also fosters local connections through their “mailroom” retail space on Holland Street. Good Moon isn’t just a festival; it’s a testament to Sylvan Esso’s enduring love for the Bull City and their dedication to creating a truly unique musical ecosystem right here in North Carolina. As Meath told the INDY in 2024, “we’ve been reaching towards doing something like this for basically the entire time we’ve been a band.”
Don’t miss your chance to be part of this essential North Carolina music event! VIP tickets for Good Moon go on sale this Friday, offering an elevated experience. General admission single-night tickets will be available starting May 22nd. Set your reminders – this is one moon you won’t want to miss rising!
