A formidable bomb cyclone churning just off the southeastern coast has blanketed much of North Carolina with heavy snow and perilous icy conditions today. This powerful winter system brought significant accumulation to regions unaccustomed to such severe weather, creating a hazardous landscape for commuters and travelers alike.

Emergency responders across the state have been overwhelmed, responding to literally hundreds of vehicle crashes attributed directly to the slick roads and poor visibility. Thousands of North Carolina drivers found themselves stranded, some for hours, as authorities urged Y’all to stay home and avoid non-essential travel.
