Starting with students entering in the fall of 2027, Davidson will be offering a sliding scale of assistance, with many students potentially attending for free or at a significantly reduced cost. So, how does it work? Davidson College is basing its new cost levels on a family’s adjusted gross income (AGI), which thoughtfully includes real estate and stocks to get a comprehensive picture. If your family’s AGI is $85,000 or less, get ready for a full scholarship covering tuition, fees, housing, AND meals – a truly full ride! For those with a family income between $85,000 and $175,000, tuition will be completely free. Even families earning more than $175,000 will receive robust aid packages to help with the cost of attendance. As Davidson College President Doug Hicks put it, “Our financial aid is extraordinary and rare. It is a foundational commitment of the college to make the Davidson experience achievable, accessible and affordable.” It’s also crucial to note that Davidson’s financial aid is grant-based, meaning students work campus jobs instead of taking out loans, a huge relief given the typical $93,000 first-year cost for an on-campus student.
