Two Cold Fronts to Arrive in the Carolinas; One with Snow and Another with Arctic Air

Good morning, Carolina! It’s time to dig out those heavy coats and prepare for a true taste of winter, because Mother Nature is about to deliver a powerful one-two punch to our state.

Our first system arrives early Thursday morning, bringing with it a mix of rain and wet snow, especially for our western and northern counties, making for potentially slick conditions during the morning commute. As the day progresses, precipitation will taper off, but a significant cold front will usher in blustery winds and noticeably colder temperatures, making Thursday a truly raw and chilly day across the entire region.

But don’t put those layers away just yet! A second, even more potent cold blast is on its way for early next week. This system promises to deliver a shot of true arctic air, bringing in temperatures that would feel more at home in the deepest parts of Canada, with widespread lows expected to plunge well into the teens and even single digits in some areas, compounded by bitter wind chills.
